William Shakespeare's birth date is unknown, but what we do know was that he was baptized on April 26, 1564. He was alive during the Elizabethan Era and was influential during this time period and forward into present day. He was a famous play writer, actor and poet. He wrote 154 sonnets and 38 plays. When he was 18 years old he married Anne Hathaway and had three children with her. The names of their children were Susanna, Judith and Hamnet. There was a time during his life called the "Lost Years" because little information is know about this point of his life except he wrote some of his plays. He died April 23, 1616. When he first started writing he wrote in the style of the era, but later in his career he started to adapt his writing style. He started to write soliloquies. The first one he wrote was in Richard III. A soliloquy is when a character talk to him or herself. He also started to write in Vice form. This is a kind of Medieval tragedy play. Shakespeare also wrote in iambic pentameter which is a line that has ten beats or syllables. In his tragedy Romeo and Juliet, many characters have soliloquies and speak in iambic pentameter.
Shakespeare was living in the time period of renovation and revival. His work is greatly influenced by this time period as well, and at the same time, he influenced the period as well. Shakespeare is responsible for many of the famous romances of the time as well as currently. Many of his plays and poems were influenced by the time period. The language, writing style, the elements and characters all reflect the Elizabethan Era. The weapons he used in the stories were also from the time period. Shakespeare also achieved something that very few people in history have, he was famous before and after he died. He was well known and his plays were put on the stage during his lifetime. He had a very long lasting legacy in the world of writing and theatre.
